Right place at the right time-Surgeon saves girl in Minnesota auto accident

A cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon saved the life of a four-year-old little girl when he stopped at the scene of a Minnesota truck accident, according to the Pioneer Press.

The man arrived at the scene of the car accident and saw the 4-year-old girl unconscious hanging from a seat belt strap and not breathing. He credits his actions to nine years of training as a surgeon.

The man got out of his car and stabilized the young Minnesota auto accident victim's neck and cleared her airway so she could breathe. When a paramedic team arrived at the truck accident scene, they were able to revive her before transporting her to Regions hospital in critical condition.

According to officials, the Minnesota car accident happened about 8:30 a.m. when the young girl's mother, who was traveling with her two daughters, either slowed or stop in the center lane of the highway and a tractor trailer slammed into the back of her vehicle.

Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the Minnesota car accident, and everyone was wearing a seat belt. The mother and her other daughter were not seriously hurt and the driver of the tractor trailer did not suffer truck accident injuries.
